What is Mortgage Loan Servicing?

Loan servicing includes sending monthly payment statements, collecting monthly payments, maintaining records of payments and balances, collecting and paying taxes and insurance, managing escrow funds, and mortgage customer service.

What is Interim Servicing?

Interim servicing refers to the period of time from when the loan closes/funds until the loan is sold.  This means that the interim servicer will collect payments and perform other loan servicing functions until the loan is sold and the servicing is transferred.

Who is Specialized Loan Servicing?

Specialized Loan Servicing performs interim servicing and mortgage loan servicing functions for Newfi.

I received a Notice of Servicing Transfer from Specialized Loan Servicing. What does this mean?

The servicing of your loan is being transferred from Specialized Loan Servicing to a new servicer.  The Notice of Servicing Transfer contains important information about the transfer.  You may receive two separate notices – a notice from your current servicer, Specialized Loan Servicing, and a “Welcome” notice from your new servicer.  The notice(s) should include all of the following information:

  1. Name, address, telephone number, and hours of operation for your new servicer and your current servicer.
  2. The effective date of the Transfer of Servicing.
  3. Date your current servicer, Specialized Loan Servicing will stop accepting payments.
  4. Date your new servicer will begin accepting payments.

My loan was transferred, but my first payment is due to Newfi. Who should I send my payment to?

If you have received a Notice of Servicing Transfer from Specialized Loan Servicing, refer to the instructions in that document for where to send your payment.  If you have not received a Notice of Servicing Transfer, contact Specialized Loan Servicing’s Customer Support at 800.315.4757 for help or contact Newfi’s Servicing Support at 888.907.3364 or email Newfi Servicing Support at servicingsupport@newfi.com.  We are happy to help.

I received a billing statement from Specialized Loan Servicing and also from another loan servicer. Who should I send my payment to?

Why has the servicing of my loan transferred?

Servicing transfers are common in the mortgage industry. A transfer of servicing does not affect any term or condition of your mortgage. As part of your closing, a Notice of Servicing Transfer was provided in your closing documents .

Does Specialized Loan Servicing offer the option to re-cast my loan if I make a large payment?

Yes, Specialized Loan Servicing offers re-casting the loan to a lower payment when a significant principal reduction occurs.  There are eligibility requirements and the borrower needs to complete a Mortgage Loan Recast Application.  Specialized Loan Servicing will review the application to determine if the borrower qualifies for a re-cast of the mortgage payment.

My loan is escrowed. Who should I contact if I have questions about my homeowners insurance and/or property tax payment?

Specialized Loan Servicing performs loan servicing functions for Newfi, including timely payment of your homeowner’s insurance renewal premiums and property taxes.  Specialized Loan Servicing can be reached at 800.315.4757 from 6:00am – 6:00pm Mountain Standard Time, Monday – Friday.

How do I set up an account on Specialized Loan Servicing's website?

To set up an account for a loan being serviced by Specialized Loan Servicing, go to www.sls.net and click on Create Your Account or the Register button on the home page. This will take you to the login page. Click on the Create My New Account Now button to get started. You will need your Specialized Loan Servicing loan account number.
